Social Welfare Services are integrated services within facilities and programme (including social security) that promote social development, social justice and social functioning of people.
They communicate directly with children and young people to learn more about them and their families’ circumstances. Put simply, social workers have to be able to connect, engage, support, talk and listen to children and young people if they are going to make a positive difference in their lives.
Social workers help relieve people’s suffering, fight for social justice, and improve lives and communities. Most people think of social workers when they think of poverty alleviation and child welfare. Many social workers do that kind of work — and we do much more.
